All maintenance and repairs at The Knolls are covered as a part of the monthly service package. It's just one of the reasons why The Knolls is one of the best options for senior living in Westchester.

Most older adults who remain in their current residence continue to do household maintenance and repairs themselves, or they pay the high costs associated with interviewing, hiring and managing professionals to do it for them. However, older adults who live at The Knolls have all of their home maintenance and repair work done by the onsite maintenance team – at no additional cost.

At The Knolls, two full-time maintenance team members are on staff. They work on interior and exterior maintenance throughout the community on a daily basis. The outdoor work, such as landscaping and snow removal, is contracted to larger teams who can tackle big projects quickly and efficiently.

“We’re here to help the residents,” says Director of Plant Operations Gordon Thompson. “We try to fulfill whatever their requests are, and try to make their life at The Knolls a lot easier.”

Contractors handle all of the snow removal, salting, sanding, shoveling and plowing in the community, which ensures that the work is done quickly, and residents have the least possible interruption to their daily lives. They also landscape The Knolls’ grounds during the warmer months, providing residents with a beautifully manicured and pristine campus.

Home repairs (and life) made easy

If something needs to be repaired in your current house, you have two options. You can spend the time and energy trying to fix it yourself, or you can call a professional, which may be costly.

For residents at The Knolls, home repairs are made easy. If something needs to be fixed in their apartment, a maintenance team member stops by to help at no additional cost, since home maintenance is included in the monthly service package.

To request help, residents can simply call or visit the concierge desk to put in a work request.

“Any kind of need they have in their apartments, or any kind of repairs that they need done,” says Gordon, “we’re here to help them in any way. Nothing is out of the realm.”

Going beyond routine repairs, if a resident wants to make upgrades or alterations to their home, they have the option to do so. While the resident will be responsible for the upgrade costs, the team of professionals at The Knolls will handle the labor. Once the upgrades are approved, all the resident has to do is watch their dream home come to life!

With the burden of home maintenance off your shoulders, you’ll have more time to spend on things you enjoy. You’ll be free to take advantage of the campus amenities, such as the dining venues, library, wellness center, indoor swimming pool, game room, beauty salon and barbershop, and much more. You’ll also have more time to take trips, visit area attractions, work on your hobbies, or spend time with family and friends.

When shopping for senior living in Westchester, be sure to always ask about the maintenance services offered, and whether they’re included in the monthly cost or if additional charges are incurred.
