“The way we spend our time defines who we are.” – Jonathan Estrin

The Knolls, a senior living community located in Westchester County, always has something exciting going on: from a variety of daily fitness classes and movie showings, to clubs, organizations, social events, and classes. With a robust schedule of healthy, educational, entertaining, and cultural events and trips, you can be sure that you will always find something fun to do.

Body and Spiritual Health

At The Knolls, we offer many activities, events and services that promote holistic health. Whether you prefer to use the modern gym equipment or participate in fitness classes, there is an option for you! The indoor pool is the perfect place for group exercise classes or a relaxing solo swim. We also invite guest speakers to speak on a variety of topics, including audiology, fall prevention, hospice care and more.

While your physical health is important, your spiritual health is important, too. We provide transportation to local worship services and occasionally hold special Shabbat services with the Youth Choral Ruakh Neshama from Woodlands Community Temple.

Educational Opportunities

Expand your horizons! To spark your creativity, attend a weekly art class, reading group, or book club.

Want to learn more about Mozart? How about Renaissance art? Maybe you’re interested in the history of Westchester County. Wherever your interests lie, there is at least one lecture or class given on a variety of topics every month. Speakers include local doctors, artists, and professionals from nearby museums and libraries.

Special Events and Dinners

Each month of the year brings a new holiday or season to celebrate. Whether it’s Cinco de Mayo, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween or the winter holiday season, The Knolls loves to celebrate! Our annual holiday events include food and drinks, entertainment and games.

We also celebrate different culinary cultures with special dinners. Our Italian dinner night, Moroccan dinner night and Chinese New Year celebration dinner offer an exciting way to experience a new culture—all while enjoying delicious food!

Arts and Culture

The Knolls is located in one of the most culturally rich areas in the country. From the countless art galleries, museums and concert halls in Westchester County, to the world-renowned venues in nearby New York City, opportunities for cultural exploration abound. Some of our residents’ favorite trips include the Katonah Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Hudson River Tour on the Pride of the Hudson, and Metropolitan Opera Simulcast at White Plains Cinema De Lux 15.

With input from residents, The Knolls plans trips to attend musical performances, and organizes on-campus performances every week, as well. These events range from entertainers singing folk, pop, and oldies music, to classical choir and chamber music. Some of the regular performers include Kol Rinah Chorale, a Jewish chorale group, and John Dare, a versatile singer and entertainer.

The Knolls also boasts its own art gallery on campus, which features a new exhibit every three months.

The key to The Knolls’ calendar of events lies with the residents – if a resident wants to take a certain trip or start a club, they are encouraged to work with the on-site team to make their vision a reality. The Knolls staff also encourages feedback from residents after participation in an event, club, or trip. This feedback from residents allows the staff to continue creating engaging, and exciting events.
